Form vs Function Setting Clinic

Materials: Setters will need to bring their own Impact driver, bits, safety glasses, climbing shoes, and closed-toe shoes for working in.
Description:
Day 1: Participants will explore the interplay between form-based and function-based setting frameworks and their impact on routesetter development and the climbing experience. The clinic will delve into incorporating play, art, and exploration into setting, balancing this playful approach with assignments, lessons, and challenges to benefit both setters and climbers.
Day 2: Participants will explore the importance of bringing balance and diversity to a room of boulders, achieving it, and understanding its benefits and challenges will also be covered. Participants will learn to assess and achieve diversity and balance in styles, movements, grip types, difficulties, and more, whether in their home gyms or in competitions. The clinic will highlight how balance may vary between different gyms.
Each day will begin with a
presentation and discussion, followed by boulder setting and forerunning in
pairs or small groups. There will be dedicated time for collaboration and
challenging yet fun discussions. A group climbing activity and a group-set of
competition boulders will also be included. Participants will leave with a new
perspective on the setting process and its impact on themselves, their teams,
and their climbing communities.
With entry to any Setter Summit clinic, participants will
