A megalith is an enormous stone hefted onto its end or lifted on top of another massive rock by our primeval ancestors. Think Stonehenge. The word itself literally means "large stone", from the Greek megas, meaning big or large, and lithos meaning stone. These stones say something powerful about who they were. And who we are. Climbing taps into that same spirit of awe and the thrill of accomplishment, and brings us back to our stony roots.
