CWA Intro To Route Setting

Materials: Setters will need to bring their own, climbing shoes, and closed-toe shoes for working in. If you have an impact, safety glasses, or bits feel free to bring your own equipment.
Requirements: All participants will have pre-course work that will need to be completed prior to the 20th. This is done via an online learning module and 3 or so hours ahead of the course should be utilized to prepare.
Description: Thanks for your interest in attending the Climbing Wall Association's pilot Intro to Route Setting Course. This program is designed for individuals with limited or no prior experience with route setting, basic tools, or the indoor climbing industry. At the end of the course you will have learned about the basic principles of route setting, common route setting terminology, basics of setting movement, and safe assembly. You will also learn about the safety considerations involved in route setting, including working at height best practices in a boulder setting environment.
This clinic is suitable for both novice and experienced route setters, as well as for climbers who want to gain a better understanding of the route-setting process. The only pre-requisite is some climbing experience, an interest in climbing movement, and a desire to learn more about becoming a route setter. By the end of the clinic, you will have a solid foundation in route setting and be able to create your own routes that challenge and inspire climbers in your community. So, let's get started!
Certification: Course participants will receive a CWA certificate of completion.
